May is Better Hearing Month! To celebrate, Connect Hearing is offering nearly 300 free hearing health events across the United States.
Hearing loss is one of the most common physical health concerns for people of all ages, with as many as one in four adults in America suffering from hearing loss. Its negative consequences reach far beyond hearing loss itself to include isolation, cognitive decline, and depression. Due to the gradual nature of hearing loss, the underlying cause of these issues often goes unnoticed, with the average person waiting seven years to treat their hearing loss after they first begin experiencing its effects.
For these reasons health professionals recommend getting an annual hearing exam starting at age 50. Doing so helps establish a hearing health baseline and check for any changes from year to year – before problems get serious.
By bringing free hearing checks to the communities we serve, our hope is to make it easy for everyone to get this important yearly checkup. Each event will feature tips for healthy hearing, the chance to connect one-on-one with a Hearing Care Professional, and a free hearing check.
